Excellent neighborhood schools make successful Michigan citizens. But our state’s educational system is in crisis.

Here are some shocking facts about the crisis:

  • School Funding has increased more slowly than any other state.

  • Low wages, a lack of resources, and large class sizes have resulted in a teacher shortage

  • There are fewer than half the number of new teachers entering the profession than there were in 2004.

  • The number of new teachers entering the profession is at its lowest point in at least twenty years.

  • There are about 100,000 certified teachers living in Michigan who have left the classroom.

What We Can Do To Fix Our Schools

As a teacher, I know what is at stake.

As you State Representative, I will fight for:

  • Tuition reimbursement programs for university students entering the teaching profession

  • Funding increases for ALL students and equatable funding to ensure that every child gets the services they need, regardless of their zip code.

  • Placing strict limits on class sizes and teacher-student ratios.

  • Ending exploitative for-profit charter schools and holding all charter schools accountable
